14 days to go
Distance travelled: 91.7 miles
Time in saddle: 7hrs 56 mins
Overall distance travelled: 4308.3 miles
After doing my blog last night I fell asleep on the bed. I woke up at about midnight and didn't know where I was or what I was doing, what a really weird experience.
Up early this morning but I didn't start cycling until after nine because breakfast in the hotel wasn't until nine.....wasn't really worth waiting for.
The weather was quite strange this morning. It was cloudy but very hot. I decided to cycle with my shorts rolled up and without a shirt on. I got some funny looks from other cyclists but I don't care. It felt great. I would cycle naked but I haven't got a chain guard on my cycle and you never know....I live in hope.
The girls were back on the road, which made the ride interesting. I always say hello as I pass....ignorant not to. One particular girl tried to converse in Spanish. She may have said "get off you bike stud muffin and make my day" but I don't think so. I shouted that I was English....bless her out of respect for me she bade me farewell in a Lancashire dialect. I'm sure she said "I'll see ya cock" or something like that but I was gone so I can't comfirm the exact tranlation.
I loved Spain but I was itching to get into France. It meant that I was getting nearer to home. The border was a little disappointing....I just walked through. I was expecting searches but it didn't happen.
As I cycled into France the weather started to get worse. It got very dark and started to rain. I had done over eighty miles and was looking for somewhere to stay. It is amazing withing one hundred yards the language changes completely......obvious but stange.
The first couple of hotels were full and they said I would not find anywhere tonight. I was eying the fields as I cycled past looking for somewhere to stay. I eventually called at a hotel called the 'Web Hotel' it boasts an internet connection....didn't work in my room. I've found that every hotelier has the same opening line..."the only room left is" It means that it is going to be shit and expensive.....there's a surprise. They should be honest and say "look you are desperate mate...I'm going to screw you" I would respect them more. I have a cupboard without a toilet....the toilet is in reception. I may use it during the night wearing just my sandles...that will piss them off....or I may just pee in the sink in my room.....come on we've all done it.....pooing may be a problem. There is a spider in my room that is so big I don't know if I should leave it alone or ride it through France... I left it a lone, it was bigger than me.
I can't believe that I have travelled through Spain....only France to go then home. Many more adventures to go and I will let you know....be there or be square......I can't believe I said that.
